Started this because some things are easier to put to music than to explain.

In their own words

Theonewhostartedit,andstilldecideshowitsounds

Arslan started Dard Bhari Dastaan in Melbourne in 2022, and the idea behind it was a small one that turned out to be enough: that a feeling you cannot get through a sentence will sometimes go through a song, and that somebody hearing it might be steadied by it, or cheered up, or just made to smile again.

Nothing went out for a long while. He and the others spent that first stretch learning how songs are actually built, taking things apart and listening properly, before anything was put in front of anybody. Most of how the group works now was decided in that quiet period.

As the person leading it he sets where the work goes. He brings the ideas, runs the conversations they get argued out in, and stays with a project from the first half thought to the thing that gets published, including how it looks as well as how it sounds.

He sings, and he plays the guitar and the piano. His voice is on solo songs, on duets, and on the ones where the whole group sings together.

For him this was never only a music project. It is a thing five people learn on, argue in, and keep going for the sake of reaching somebody.

The letter

We only write when there is a song

No weekly round up and nothing to scroll past. When something is finished it goes out once, with the story behind it, and that is the whole arrangement.

One email per song. Leaving is one click and we do not ask why.
